Preview every armor trim pattern and material combination, and get the ready /give command.

Flat 2D preview — not a 3D in-game render.

Base: Iron Trim: None Pattern: None

/give command

/give @p minecraft:iron_chestplate

This is a flat 2D preview to show the material/pattern combination — not a 3D in-game render.

How to Use the Armor Trim Generator

  1. Pick an armor piece (helmet, chestplate, leggings, or boots) and a base armor material — leather through netherite, all six vanilla armor materials are supported.
  2. Choose a trim pattern and a trim material from the two dropdowns; the flat 2D preview redraws instantly with the base color, an accent shape or line unique to that pattern, and the trim material’s color used for both the outline and the accent.
  3. Read the pattern’s real-world drop source under the preview — each of the 18 patterns lists exactly where it’s found in survival, from Shipwreck chests to Trial Chambers vaults.
  4. Set a target selector (defaults to @p) and copy the generated /give command — it only includes a trim= component at all once both pattern and material are set to something other than “None”, matching real game data (there’s no such thing as a trim with a “none” side).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the preview flat instead of a 3D render of the actual armor model?

This tool intentionally uses a flat 2D silhouette so it can render instantly for every piece/base/pattern/material combination without loading 3D armor models — it’s built to quickly compare colors and confirm which pattern and material you want, not to substitute for trying the armor on in-game.

Why doesn’t my /give command include a trim component?

The trim component is only added once both the pattern and the material dropdowns are set to something other than “None” — a bare item with no trim data at all is correct output when either side is left on “None”, since there’s no such thing in the game’s item data as a trim with a missing pattern or material.

Can I put any trim pattern on any base armor material?

Yes — trim patterns and base armor materials are fully independent; any of the 18 patterns can be combined with any of the 6 base materials and any of the 11 trim materials. The only real-game constraint is finding the pattern template itself, which is tied to a specific loot source (see the table above), not to which armor you’re trimming.

Does leather armor actually support trims?

Yes — leather is a real trim-compatible base material in vanilla Minecraft, even though it’s dyeable and doesn’t show the trim overlay quite as vividly as metal armors in some lighting. This tool lists it alongside chainmail, iron, golden, diamond, and netherite as a selectable base.
