This is a functional automatic sugar cane farm that I designed and built myself. While it may not be the most elaborate design, it’s effective and gets the job done.

It’s a straightforward build that focuses on efficiency for harvesting sugar cane, making it a useful addition to any Minecraft world.

Before You Build

This build uses 329 blocks across 12 block types – about 6 stacks in total, which fits inside a single shulker box. It occupies 7×11 blocks of ground and stands 6 blocks tall.

What to bring first

Dirt – 161 2 stacks + 33
Grass Block – 51
Deepslate Bricks – 42
Glass – 30
Observer – 8

Survival or creative?

Every block in this build can be obtained in survival, so it can be built by hand without creative mode or commands. You will need Silk Touch for Glass, Grass Block.

Moving parts

It includes Hopper, Observer, Piston, Redstone Wire, so check the mechanism still works after pasting – redstone state and item-container contents do not always survive a paste.
