This structure is designed as a mob arena. Mobs will spawn when a player or another mob steps on a pressure plate.
The arena has been tested and functions well in Minecraft versions 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.11, and 1.12. Older versions (below 1.4, 1.4) and versions 1.9 and 1.10 may cause spawning issues, such as mobs appearing beneath the arena or not engaging the player.
Feel free to modify this structure to better suit your specific requirements.

This build is not survival-obtainable as-is. It contains Skeleton Skull, which cannot be collected in survival – paste it in creative, or substitute those blocks.

Moving parts
It includes Dispenser, Lever, Redstone Torch, Redstone Wire, Repeater, Sticky Piston, so check the mechanism still works after pasting – redstone state and item-container contents do not always survive a paste.
