This is a Litematica schematic for an efficient melon and pumpkin farm, designed to work in Minecraft 1.17.1. The design incorporates several improvements for optimal performance and ease of use.

To ensure all harvested items are collected, the farm is enclosed with glass. Additionally, stone brick slabs are placed on top to prevent unwanted mob spawning and to silence the note blocks. A shroomlight or similar light source is necessary for crop growth, though this can be substituted with other lighting blocks.

A key enhancement is the switch from extensive hopper chains to a hopper minecart system for item collection. This significantly reduces the need for crafting numerous hoppers, saving resources like iron.

A lever is conveniently located next to the redstone torch, allowing you to toggle the item collection system on or off. A comprehensive list of materials and raw resources needed for construction is provided.

Before You Build

This build uses 690 blocks across 20 block types – about 11 stacks in total, which fits inside a single shulker box. It occupies 13×16 blocks of ground and stands 9 blocks tall.

What to bring first

Stone – 144 2 stacks + 16
White Stained Glass – 108 1 stack + 44
Rail – 87 1 stack + 23
Stone Brick Slab – 81 1 stack + 17
Dirt – 40

Survival or creative?

This build is not survival-obtainable as-is. It contains Farmland, which cannot be collected in survival – paste it in creative, or substitute those blocks.

Moving parts

It includes Comparator, Hopper, Lever, Note Block, Observer, Piston, Powered Rail, Rail, so check the mechanism still works after pasting – redstone state and item-container contents do not always survive a paste.
