This intricate redstone contraption functions as a 7 segment display, capable of showing numbers by selectively illuminating seven individual segments. Each digit is uniquely formed by activating specific combinations of these segments. For instance, the number 1 is shown by lighting up just two segments on the right, while the number 8 illuminates all seven. The system begins by accepting four binary inputs, which can represent any number from 0 to 15, where each input line is either off (0) or on (1). These binary signals are then processed by a custom-built redstone decoder. This decoder interprets the binary code and directs power to the appropriate segments to construct the corresponding numeral. For example, a binary input of 0010 is recognized as the number 2, and the decoder ensures only the segments forming a ‘2’ are activated. Finally, the activated signals travel to the display unit. Each segment is wired to a distinct redstone line, and upon receiving power, it lights up, creating the visible number on the display.
